2012 NFL Draft: Orson Charles Not Helping Himself

First, he passed up a chance to impress scouts at the combine, opting not to run the 40-yard dash. He then struggled at his pro day, running a 4.9 into the wind and a 4.75 with the wind at his back. To make matters worse, Charles continuously used the wind as an excuse after his pro-day and said he got a late start to training, which is why he didn’t run at the combine, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

And to make matters even worse, Charles was arrested for a DUI early yesterday morning, as reported by the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

The DUI itself is not likely to destroy the Georgia tight end’s draft stock, but he is not helping his cause. Things are starting to stack up against Charles, and he is showing some careless behavior leading up to the draft.

Charles is as talented as they come on the field, and he very well could be the most talented tight end in this draft class. But after making excuses for the combine and pro day, and now making as bone-headed a decision as one can make with less than two months until the NFL Draft, Charles is making it tough for teams to trust him.
