Scary moment for the Marlins in a Sunday afternoon Grapefruit League game. Giancarlo Stanton, Miami's slugging right fielder, suffered a wrist injury after being hit by a pitch from Mets reliever Chris Schwinden in the third inning.

Stanton left the game and was taken to the hospital to receive X-rays. The Marlins are calling it a “wrist contusion,” according to the Palm Beach Post:

Stanton walked to first base where he was met by assistant trainer Mike Kozak and manager Ozzie Guillen. After a few seconds, Guillen motioned to the dugout and Stanton left the game.Last season, Stanton went by “Mike” — read about the name change here — a more familiar moniker which might remind you that he hit 34 home runs and drove in 87 RBI. If Stanton’s injury persists, the Marlins will be losing their projected cleanup hitter.
