↵With the exception of one wartime footnote, Ireland has not produced a major league ballplayer since the 19th Century. Of those born there, Tony Mullane is probably the best. While some would argue against him because the bulk of his worth came from the American Association, anyone known as The Apollo of the Box should probably be in the Hall of Fame for his nickname alone.
