In what has become a recurring theme leading up to the draft, Vontaze Burfict has once again failed to impress the scouts.
2012 NFL Draft: Vontaze Burfict Disappoints at Arizona State’s Pro Day
After completely bombing the combine with terrible interviews and performance on the field, Burfict had the chance to turn things around at his pro day. Instead, Burfict notched a weak 16 reps on the bench press and showed that he is far from fast, according to the Arizona Republic.
“I’m not a track star,” Burfict told the Arizona Republic after his work out.
That much was obvious. I don’t think anybody was mistaking Burfict for a track star. At least I hope not. The bigger concern, however, is that the former Sun Devil doesn’t look like much of a football star, either.
In addition to the attitude problems that got him benched late in the season, Burfict didn’t consistently shine in the games he was in. To make matters worse, he has shown laziness in preparation for his workouts and a lack of accountability in his interviews.
I would be surprised if a team drafts him at this point.
