This year I wrote the player rankings and evaluations for the USA Today 2012 NFL Draft magazine. It’s on newsstands now and available online here. Leading up to the draft, I’ll be reprinting some of my quick reports here.
2012 NFL Draft quick report: Derek Dennis, Temple
Derek Dennis, Temple
Height: 6'3, Weight: 328 pounds
Strengths: Dennis is a powerful lineman who gets a good initial punch. Is better moving forward than you’d expect from a player his size. He’s started at both guard and tackle spots, and could at least provide good depth. Tough player who played through nagging injuries. Participated in the East-West Shrine Game.
Weaknesses: Has to come out of his stance lower to take better advantage of his natural leverage. Gets high in his stance and will be beaten by a good bull rush. Tends to be slow off the line of scrimmage. Was consistently beaten off the snap by Penn State's Devon Still last season.
