Knaus, Johnson Feelin’ Pretty Good Right Now

Getty Images

In an interesting turn of events the penalties levied against Chad Knaus and the 48 team after the failed car inspection prior to the opening practices of the Daytona 500 were today.

That means Jimmie Johnson gets his 25 points back and is now looking at a better place in the standings than he was just 24hrs ago.

Knaus also won his suspension appeal, but remains on probation until some time in May.

What I find weird about this though is that NASCAR still gets to keep Knaus’ $100K fine. No explanation was given (as of yet) as to why. Is it Chief Appellant Officer John Middlebrook’s way of saying that Chad may ‘technically’ be within the rules but he is still coming awfully close to being on the wrong side of the NASCAR law? And he is giving a warning to Knaus and the Hendrick team. Who know for sure?

I don’t know for sure, but that is what it seems like to me anyway.

So do you still think Chad is a cheater, or an innovator? I’m still going with innovator!

Leave me your comments :)
