Who Are This Year’s Most Overrated And Underrated Prospects?

The NFL draft process is in full swing right now. Every year, there is always someone who gets overly hyped up, taken too high and then doesn’t perform to those expectations. Similarly, there always appears to be that guy who fly’s under the radar, maybe a third or fourth round pick, that makes everyone think “why the hell didn’t we draft him earlier?”.

Blaine Gabbert is the prime example of an overrated player from last year. He hasn't necessarily bust yet (although some of you might think so), but he clearly was taken too high for what he is actually worth. While T.J. Yates played miles above his expectations of a rookie fifth round pick.

For me, I'm starting to believe Morris Claiborne is overrated. I recently watched him against Georgia and West Virginia, and I was less than impressed. From what I saw, he looked a poor tackler and got beat on too many occasions. But maybe I just saw his worst two games and he was lights out the rest of the year, I don't know. As for underrated, give me the Clemson pair Andre Branch and Brandon Thompson. I'm starting to believe Branch is one of the better out and out pass-rushers in this draft, yet most mock drafts have him in the second or third round. Thompson is a very solid player whenever I've watched Clemson. He's stout against the run, can provide an interior push in pass-rushing situations and I think would play well as a 3-4 defensive end or as a 4-3 defensive tackle.

I’m genuinely interested in what you guys have to say. Who are you the guys you can’t believe are being talked about as first rounders and who are the guys that aren’t in that conversation that you think should be?

He’s a bit of a liability in the run game, but his potential in the pass game was enough for Buffalo Rumblings.
