The SB Nation two-round NFL mock draft continues along with each lead NFL team blogger making the pick for their team. Up now is the Kansas City Chiefs with the No. 11 overall pick.

With the 11th pick in the 2012 SB Nation NFL Writers Mock Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs select Iowa offensive tackle Riley Reiff.

Joel Thorman of Arrowhead Pride breaks down the choice and I respond after the jump. For more on the Chiefs, make sure to check out ArrowheadPride.com. Also find more of Joel at SBNation.com where he’s the NFL editor.

Joel Thorman explains: The Chiefs are stunned when they see Reiff, considered by many to be a better prospect than Mike Adams (No. 10 to Buffalo), still available with the 11th pick. This is a best player available type of situation and the Chiefs select Reiff knowing full well they have two NFL starters already on the offensive line. Reiff is the future replacement for LT Branden Albert, who is entering the final year of his contract. Reiff’s availability means the Chiefs don’t have to give Albert a longterm deal and could entertain trading him. Reiff comes from Iowa, where he was coached by Kirk Ferentz, a close friend of Chiefs GM Scott Pioli. Iowa linemen are noted for how well-coached they are and Reiff is no different. He pushes for playing time immediately but he’s not truly in the plans until 2013.

Dan Kadar responds: One of the great things about collaborative mock drafts is element of uniqueness and surprise. The last two picks have been offensive tackles I have rated lower than Stanford's Jonathan Martin. Compared to Reiff, Martin grades out higher in pass protection, but isn't quite as physical. With Peyton Hillis now with the Chiefs, along with the returning Jamaal Charles, having the better run blocker in Reiff makes sense.
