Kyrie Irving Injury: Cavs Rookie Suffers Sprained Shoulder

The extent of the injury to the Cavaliers young star is still unknown.

After injuring his shoulder in a loss to the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday night, Cleveland Cavaliers PG Kyrie Irving, the clear front-runner for the Rookie of the Year Award, may miss the Cavaliers game against the New York Knicks on Saturday night.

While he traveled with the team to New York City, the training staff listed him as questionable after examining his shoulder on Saturday morning.

The extent of his injury is unknown, as it’s not clear whether he has had either an X-ray or an MRI on his shoulder.

After Friday’s game, Irving told reporters he was in pain and that he had separated the same shoulder as a high school sophomore.

The 6’3”, 190 lb. PG has looked like a future star for most of the season, averaging 19 points and 6 assists on 47% shooting despite playing in 11 games in his only season at Duke.
