2012 NFL Draft quick report: Darron Thomas, Oregon
Darron Thomas, Oregon
Height: 6'3, Weight: 215 pounds
Strengths: Thomas is a productive, winning quarterback with good athleticism and size. Career record of 23-3. Will be a good developmental player if he’s willing to put in the effort. Could be a player similar to Joe Webb of the Minnesota Vikings – maybe not an every-game starter but a solid spot guy who can be put into certain packages to create athletic mismatches.
Weaknesses: Comes from the gimmicky Oregon spread offense. Didn’t have to make a lot of reads and will throw the ball into bad spots. Has to refine how he holds the ball pre-release. Will often drop his right hand instead of keeping it high. Doesn’t have the strongest arm. Got benched a half as a junior for poor play.
