This has to be a strange day for the Indianapolis Colts. At 12 p.m. ET, Colts owner Jim Irsay will officially announce that the team is releasing Peyton Manning, the iconic quarterback who has worn No. 18 in Indy for the last 13 years. They're losing one of the greatest players to ever step on the field and a player that put the Colts on the map in the football world.
Colts Fans Celebrate Peyton Manning’s Career In Indianapolis As An Era Ends
SB Nation’s Colts blog, Stampede Blue, says Wednesday’s announcement should be a day to celebrate Manning’s career in Indy.
In the coming weeks we’ll dive into the decision that we all knew was inevitable after the Colts secured the No. 1 overall pick, but today should be for celebrating the greatest QB in NFL history, remembering everything he did for the Colts, the city, and its fans.
Today, let’s remember the ‘Laser Rocket Arm’, and hope we get to see it again, albeit in another uniform. Just hope he doesn’t beat the Colts too bad when he does.
But don't feel too bad for the Colts. They had an elite quarterback for the last 13 years and in April they'll be drafting a player who has as much hype as Manning did in 1998. It will soon be Andrew Luck's team, and not Peyton Manning's, which is still hard to imagine.
