David Robertson sustained a foot injury after tripping on stairs, but he came away pretty good and pretty fortunate.
David Robertson Foot Injury Not Severe
David Robertson is kind of amazing. He’s pitched for the Yankees since 2008, but because he’s a reliever who isn’t a closer, he doesn’t generate a ton of press. This despite owning a 147 ERA+ and a strikeout rate of 12 batters per nine innings. Robertson is about as good a non-Mariano Rivera reliever as you’ll find.
Robertson did generate a wave of press recently, but not for good reasons. Wednesday, he was moving boxes and tripped on stairs. Or, more accurately, he tripped on stair. In any case, he sustained a foot injury, and as comical as that sounds, it was a cause for concern. To put it the way Joe Girardi put it, it was a “cause for concern.”
