2012 SB Nation NFL Mock Draft: Round 2, Pick 38

With the 38th pick in the 2012 SB Nation NFL Writers Mock Draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars select Appalachian State wide receiver Brian Quick.

Big Cat Country breaks it down: The Jaguars need to add to their receiving corps after picking up a defensive end in the first round. The team needs a bigger receiver added to their line up after picking up Laurent Robinson in free agency, who can stretch the field. Quick adds a player with size to the team who can also add another big red zone threat for Blaine Gabbert. Quick is also a high potential type player who’s still a bit raw and will need refining, but early on his size and strong hands will get him into the lineup.

Dan Kadar responds: If your theory on mock drafts is trying to predict what a team will do, this is spot on. Over the past three drafts, the Jaguars have picked nine non-FBS players. So both in regard to targeting correctly and filling a need, this works. There are some better wide receivers out there – namely Alshon Jeffery and Mohamed Sanu – but Quick would be a suitable foil for Robinson.
