This year I wrote the player rankings and evaluations for the USA Today 2012 NFL Draft magazine. It’s on newsstands now and available online here. Leading up to the draft, I’ll be reprinting some of my quick reports here.
Edwin Baker 2012 NFL Draft quick report

Edwin Baker, Michigan State
Height: 5'9, Weight: 210 pounds
Strengths: A powerful runner who lowers his pads and runs with a low center of gravity. Has good shiftiness for a stronger back. Shows good patience to wait for his blocks to develop. Works hard to gain yards and gets a good forward lean at the end of his run.
Weaknesses: Was Michigan State’s secondary running option, which is partially why Baker left after his junior year. Ran for 50 yards or less in 11 games in 2011. Has small hands – measured just over eight inches. Doesn’t have good speed and can get caught from behind. Largely unproven in the passing game, both as a receiver and blocker.
