This year I wrote the player rankings and evaluations for the USA Today 2012 NFL Draft magazine. It’s on newsstands now and available online here. Leading up to the draft, I’ll be reprinting some of my quick reports here.
Tauren Poole 2012 NFL Draft quick report

Tauren Poole, Tennessee
Ht: 5'10, Wt: 215 pounds
Strengths: A good one-cut running back with strength. Runs with power and keeps a low pad level. One of Poole’s biggest strengths is his effort. He rarely goes down on first contact and does a nice job of keeping his legs moving. Will be productive if placed in the right zone-blocking system. Poole is a just a solid runner, even though he doesn’t stand out in any area.
Weaknesses: Doesn’t always wait for his blocks to develop, which is masked at times because of his foot quickness. Average burst. Poole doesn’t have the kind of speed that will allow him to break away from defenders in the open field. Not elusive. Was benched at various times during his career.
