This year I wrote the player rankings and evaluations for the USA Today 2012 NFL Draft magazine. It’s on newsstands now and available online here. Leading up to the draft, I’ll be reprinting some of my quick reports here.

Brandon Bolden, Mississippi
Height: 5'11, Weight: 215 pounds

Strengths: Bolden has good size and strength to run inside and nimble enough feet to make good cuts. Advanced in the pass game. Runs solid routes and has good hands. Finished his career with 76 receptions. Picks up the blitz really well. Has tools to develop.

Weaknesses: Is an undisciplined runner who will try to do too much to try and break a big play. Won’t make many defenders miss in the open field. Runs hot and cold. Has battled injuries, and missed time in 2011 with an ankle issue. Style is a lot like Ryan Torain of the Washington Redskins.

This player should be a plug-and-play replacement for Mekhi Becton right off the bat.

He’s a bit of a liability in the run game, but his potential in the pass game was enough for Buffalo Rumblings.

It’s a high-potential pick for a Detroit defense that needs a solid pass rusher.
