This year I wrote the player rankings and evaluations for the USA Today 2012 NFL Draft magazine. It’s on newsstands now and available online here. Leading up to the draft, I’ll be reprinting some of my quick reports here.
Chris Givens 2012 NFL Draft quick report
Chris Givens, Wake Forest
6’0, 195 pounds
Strengths: Quick and gets up to speed in a hurry. Shows good speed after the catch. Good route runner. Doesn’t take a wasted step and runs sharp routes. Agile enough to make defenders miss after the catch. Does a good job adjusting to poor throws.
Weaknesses: Doesn’t have good size and will need to get stronger. Tends to be slow off the line and will get jammed. Body catches too often. Profiles as a No. 3 receiver in the NFL who will run quick routes inside.
Combine quotable: (On beating press coverage) I feel like I can do fairly well, coaching and working hard, that’s something I’ve been focusing on now. I have a pretty good amount of time before first preseason game with training camp and all that, I feel like working hard and working with a coach, I’ll be ready to go.
