Peter King: Eagles don’t want to trade into top eight of NFL Draft

Peter King of Sports Illustrated has a tidbit-filled Monday Morning Quarterback today. There is nothing more interesting than King reporting the Eagles don't want to trade up between picks three and eight.

There were reports over the weekend that the Eagles wanted to move up to the No. 4 pick owned by the Cleveland Browns. The notion is that the Eagles want Texas A&M quarterback Ryan Tannehill. Those rumors were quick squashed. King takes the squashing to another level saying the Eagles don't want to trade in front of the Dolphins with the No. 8 pick because they'd have to give up too much. At the least, the Eagles would have to give up their first-round pick and both second-round picks.

As Dan Pompeii of National Football Post pointed out on Sunday, there is buzz about the Eagles taking a quarterback early. Now that they may be unwilling to move into the top 10, look for one of those extra second-round picks to be a quarterback. Michigan State's Kirk Cousins may be attractive for the Eagles. Brandon Weeden, because of his age, may not be a good developmental choice and Cousins is more of a sure thing than Arizona State's Brock Osweiler.

A couple other interesting MMQB items:

- King says if Tannehill slips, it won’t be past Seattle with the No. 12 pick. Head coach Pete Carroll was “giggling like a schoolgirl” watching Tannehill throw.

- Browns General Manager Tom Heckert loves Oklahoma State wide receiver Justin Blackmon, according to King. This will probably be your mock draft meme of the week after the Browns were long-associated with Alabama running back Trent Richardson.

- At his pro day, Andrew Luck chose to throw into the wind. Ain't he just dreamy?

- Opinions vary on Memphis defensive tackle Dontari Poe. That's no surprise given Poe's ordinary play at a non-BCS school.

Make sure to check out more from MMQB here. King has some excellent thoughts on what the Jaguars may do with the No. 7 pick – it won't be a wide receiver.
