Nick Toon 2012 NFL Draft quick report
Nick Toon, Wisconsin
Height: 6'3, Weight: 212 pounds
Strengths: Plays with good awareness to know where the sideline is when coming down with the catch. Knows how to shield off defenders with his body to gain positioning. Adjusts to the ball well. Wins a lot of jump ball situations. Father, Al, was a longtime NFL wide receiver.
Weaknesses: Speed is only average and will struggle against zone coverage. Inconsistent hands. Dropped too many catchable passes during his career. Slows down when cutting on his routes.
Combine quotable: (On his strengths) I think first and foremost you want to have good hands. I think I have great hands. Your job as a receiver is to catch the ball. I think I do a great job of that. The other thing is I think I’m a complete player, polished in a lot of aspects of the game. Obviously no one’s a perfect player, but right now I don’t think I have any glaring weaknesses. I try to work and continue to improve all of the skills that are part of being a receiver. I’ll never stop trying to get better.
