This year I wrote the player rankings and evaluations for the USA Today 2012 NFL Draft magazine. It’s on newsstands now and available online here. Leading up to the draft, I’ll be reprinting some of my quick reports here.
Michael Egnew 2012 NFL Draft quick report

Michael Egnew, Missouri
Ht: 6'5 1/4, Wt: 252 pounds
Strengths: A natural receiver with soft hands. Routinely catches the ball away from his frame. Tracks the ball in the air well and solid after the catch. Has a frame to get much bigger. Won’t “wow” you in any area but could be a solid No. 2 tight end.
Weaknesses: Rarely used with his hand down and may struggle to get off the line when he’s held up. Relies more on finesse than strength. Will need to add strength throughout his frame. Doesn’t have the speed to break big plays deep. Comes from an offense where tight ends have struggled to translate to the NFL.
