This year I wrote the player rankings and evaluations for the USA Today 2012 NFL Draft magazine. It’s on newsstands now and available online here. Leading up to the draft, I’ll be reprinting some of my quick reports here.
Andrew Datko 2012 NFL Draft quick report
Andrew Datko, Florida State
Ht: 6'6, Wt: 305 pounds
Strengths: If not for injuries, Datko would be a late first-round pick. He’s an athletic and experienced left tackle and known as a hard worker. He sets the edge nicely and was rarely beaten by the pass rush. Moves around effortlessly without a wasted motion.
Weaknesses: Shoulder injuries could keep him totally off some teams’ boards. Had labrum surgery prior to the 2011 season that didn’t take and missed most of the season. Doesn’t get great knee bend in the run game and needs to play with more strength.
