Jamie Moyer Becomes Oldest Winner In MLB History
On April 17, Rockies left-hander Jamie Moyer became the oldest pitcher in major-league history to win a game.
Of course, if you really think about it, every single thing that happens, every moment, is living history. But you don’t come here for that sort of nonsense. It’s baseball!
Tuesday night in Denver, Jamie Moyer became the oldest pitcher -- 49 years and 150 days old, to be precise -- to win a Major League Baseball game, pitching seven strong innings and earning a 5-2 victory over the San Diego Padres.

Moyer, who missed all of last season before earning a rotation job with the Rockies this spring, entered his Tuesday start with a 4.22 ERA in two starts, but got stuck with a loss in both.
Tuesday night against the Padres, Moyer cruised through the first six innings, scattering a few hits without giving up any runs. In the seventh, though, Jesus Guzman led off with a walk. After a fly-out, Guzman moved to second on Chris Denorfia's single. Andy Parrino followed with a grounder to Troy Tulowitzki, who made a bad throw for his sixth error of the season, Guzman scoring and everyone else safe. Jason Bartlett made the score 3-2 with a sacrifice fly, but Moyer escaped more damage when pinch-hitter Jeremy Hermida grounded out to second.
The Rockies tacked on a pair of insurance runs in the eighth, which proved useful when the Padres scored once in the top of the ninth. Closer Rafael Betancourt finally preserved Moyer’s historic victory with his third save of the season, striking out Yonder Alonso to end the game.
