This year I wrote the player rankings and evaluations for the USA Today 2012 NFL Draft magazine. It’s on newsstands now and available online here. Leading up to the draft, I’ll be reprinting some of my quick reports here.
Jonathan Massaquoi 2012 NFL Draft quick report
Jonathan Massaquoi
Ht: 6’2, Wt: 270 pounds
Strengths: Massaquoi is a strong but agile pass rusher who often played with his hand down at Troy. Plays with natural leverage to drive blocker back from underneath their pads. Good at sniffing out the ball in the run game. Shows good effort. Good production. Had 31 tackles for loss and 19.5 sacks in his career.
Weaknesses: Struggled with double teams during his junior year. Likely doesn’t have the size to stay at end and will need to move to linebacker. Anticipation skills seem below-average. Will be slow off the snap at times. Doesn’t pick up on draws or screens particularly fast. Only played two years of top-level football after transferring from junior college.
