Reports are emerging this evening that multiple NFL teams have Baylor wide receiver Kendall Wright graded in the third round. Rotoworld.com explains:
Could Kendall Wright Slip To The Third Round?
There were rumors of an offseason weight gain for Wright, and his forty time at the Combine was slower than anticipated. "Randall Cobb was a lot better," one NFL evaluator said. "Wright is nowhere near as good with the ball in his hands and (Cobb) lasted 'til the back of the second (round). People are getting snookered (by Wright)." Wright managed only four bench-press reps, and Pro Football Weekly reports his body fat was 16 percent. Per PFW, it's "one of the highest percentages for a receiver in the past decade."
I would agree with the assessment that Wright hasn't had a great offseason, but third round? I like Wright a lot, and I currently would rank him only behind Justin Blackmon and Michael Floyd. I know for certain that my Redskins wouldn't pass him up if he fell to 69. They'd happily take him and pair him up with Robert Griffin III again. I would think a lot of teams would jump on him in the second round, the Rams, Browns, Patriots, Eagles, Texans and 49ers would probably all take a long look at him if he started to fall.
But as always, remember to take these reports with a large pinch of salt at this time of year.
