Jon Jay hurt himself running into a fence, but now he’s back on the active roster.
Cardinals Activate Jon Jay And Matt Carpenter
Jay went 3-for-7 in two rehab games with a home run. The Cardinals apparently figured that was enough to get him back in their lineup. Carpenter was 3-for-10 with Memphis in his rehab stint, also with a home run.

He’s tried to play through it for the last few weeks, and his offensive production hasn’t slowed; he’s hitting .339/.397/.371 with 12 runs scored in 15 games since the collision.

The disabled list wasn’t thought of as a real possibility. Jay returned to pinch-run on Saturday. Sunday, he felt discomfort in his shoulder during batting practice, and suddenly the disabled list was more of a possibility. Jay was sent for tests, but thankfully for Jay and the Cardinals, the tests felt like spreading some good cheer:
