Ryan Zimmerman is off to a slow start for the Nationals this season, hitting just .224/.324/.345 in 15 games with only one home run. He hasn't played since last Friday, sitting out with shoulder soreness, and now there's even worse news after he had a shoulder MRI:

"At this point, as far as I know, it’s not real favorable," Manager Davey Johnson said. "It looks like he’s going to need to some more rest. We’ll just have to wait and see."
The Nationals planned to wait at least until Wednesday to make any roster moves. If Zimmerman lands on the disabled list, Johnson said he would use Mark DeRosa, Chad Tracy and Steve Lombardozzi to replace Zimmerman at third base.
The Nats expect further analysis of Zimmerman’s MRI results from team doctor Wiemi Douoguih sometime later on Wednesday, and have several options to replace Zimmerman on the 25-man roster if he has to be placed on the DL.
Somehow, none of this has seemed to matter much for the Nats, who have won six of their last seven and are in first place in the NL East with the best record in the league, 13-4.
