The Minnesota Vikings have selected Matt Kalil with the No. 4 pick in the 2012 NFL Draft after trading down with the Cleveland Browns earlier this evening.

The Vikings were reportedly torn between Matt Kalil and Morris Claiborne heading into the draft. General manager Rick Spielman managed to trade back a spot and still get one of his coveted prospects while collecting a fourth, fifth and seventh round picks from the Browns.
Kalil is the right choice. After taking quarterback Christian Ponder a year ago, the Vikings needed to protect their franchise investment.
