The Cleveland Browns have decided to draft a new quarterback after all. Despite voicing their faith in Colt McCoy, the Browns have selected Brandon Weeden with the No. 22 pick in the 2012 NFL Draft.

I mocked this in an earlier update and am currently kicking myself for switching it. Weeden’s main downside is his age. At 29 years old, Weeden will have to make an instant impact to live up to the billing of being a first round draft choice.
This is the right move for Cleveland. McCoy was not going to win this team a Super Bowl, and with the top three wide receivers off the board, the Browns went with a quarterback. It’s tough to fault them, though they will need to provide their new signal caller with some weapons in the upcoming rounds. For now, the Browns have their franchise running back and a new franchise quarterback.
