It wasn't a wide receiver for the Cleveland Browns. It wasn't even Jonathan Martin, Cordy Glenn or Bobby Massie. Instead, the Browns went against general consensus selecting California offensive tackle Mitchell Schwartz.

Schwartz isn't an athletic tackle, which is fine for Cleveland since he'll be playing right tackle. But why pass on the other tackles? Easy. Most consider them soft players. Mitchell is a grinder of a tackler who started 51 consecutive games for the Golden Bears. The Browns added Trent Richardson in the first round, which may mean the team is going to be running more of a power scheme.

Still, for the Browns, it’s a risk passing on playmaking wide receivers.

Quick scouting notes: Displays good power to neutralize stronger defensive ends and is quick enough to move to the outside against speed guys. Seems to have a great understanding of the game and knows how to pick up blitzes.
