2012 NFL Draft: Run on offensive linemen early in 2nd round

The second round is less than 15 picks done and offensive linemen (not wide receivers as expected) are the picks of choice. Five of the first 12 picks of the round were offensive linemen, but each profiles in a different way.

The Browns added Mitchell Schwartz, but Carolina really started the trend by taking Amini Silatolu of Midwestern State with the No. 40 pick. The college left tackle will likely move to left guard for the Panthers. He should easily beat out free agent signing Mike Pollak.

The Buffalo Bills went with girth in Georgia's Cordy Glenn. But where does he play? He's too slow off the snap to be a reliable left tackle, but they'll probably try him there.

Miami adds their right tackle for Ryan Tannehill in Stanford's Jonathan Martin. The question will be is if Martin is physical enough off the line. The Dolphins also have to start thinking about playmakers for the offense.

The Kansas City Chiefs ended the mini run by taking Illinois offensive tackle Jeff Allen. He'll be a good swing tackle for them early in his career and provides insurance if Branden Albert leaves after this season. He may even step in for Ryan Lilja at left guard. Allen is similar in style to free agent guard Eric Steinbach. He's not overly physical but good in pass protection.
