Mr. Irrelevant is a term is a title appropriately given to the last player drafted each year. Each year, the last player picked is invited to spend a week in Newport California for a golf tournament among other festivities. The player is also presented with the Lowsman Trophy, a spinoff of the Heisman Trophy.

In the 2012 NFL Draft, Northern Illinois quarterback Chandler Hornish was selected by the Indianapolis Colts with the last pick of the seventh round, a compensatory selection, No. 253 overall.

Chandler Harnish was the MAC MVP this past season for Northern Illinois after piling up 4,595 total yards during his senior season. Harnish is a three time Academic All-MAC selection and two time member of the All-MAC first team. He started 45 games during his four year career and led Northern Illinois to a 22-5 record in the last two seasons.
Harnish will be sitting behind the more relevant Andrew Luck to start his NFL career.
