Over the last week, we’ve voted for the deepest position on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball in this years draft class. Now it’s time to vote for the overall deepest position. The wide receivers won the offensive vote with a staggering 64% of the vote, while the corners won the defensive vote taking 39%.
What Is The Deepest Position In The 2012 NFL Draft?
If you take a quick glance at the wide receiver class, it may not appear to be great due to the lack of a Calvin Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald or A.J. Green type of talent to headline it. However, scratch beneath the surface and you'll find the class is full of talent and depth. Justin Blackmon, Michael Floyd and Kendall Wright are virtually locked into the first round. Then you have guys like Alshon Jeffery and Mohamed Sanu who could be available in the second round. Round three offers the likes of Dwight Jones and Nick Toon; while Ryan Broyles and Juron Criner could fall to the fourth round or beyond.
The corner class is very similar in that regard. Morris Claiborne is the headline talent, but he's not elite. Dre Kirkpatrick, Janoris Jenkins and Stephon Gilmore could all join Claiborne as first round selections. Move into the second round and you can find talented guys such as Virginia's Chase Minniefield and Nebraska's Alfonzo Dennard. Brandon Boykin and Josh Norman provide value in the third round while Casey Hayward, Dwight Bentley and Donnie Fletcher could be late round steals for somebody.
