2012 SB Nation NFL Mock Draft: Round 1, Pick 32

With the 32nd pick in the 2012 SB Nation NFL Writers Mock Draft, the New York Giants select Wisconsin center Peter Konz.
Big Blue View Editor-in-Chief Ed Valentine checks in with an explanation for the pick and I respond after the jump. For more on the Giants, check out BigBlueView.com and get more Ed goodness at SB Nation New York.
Ed Valentine explains: The Giants could go a lot of different ways here, offensive line, wide receiver, running back, linebacker, cornerback. Konz doesn’t fit the seeming need for an offensive tackle, but he is the best offensive lineman and best value left on the board. Giants GM Jerry Reese is all about value, so Konz is the choice. Besides, he could end up starting at left guard.
Dan Kadar responds: It's true, the Giants could go a number of different directions. But if there's a known with General Manager Jerry Reese, it's that he'll take the best player available and that player like likely have good size. For the past several picks Konz has been my best player available. It just so happens he's also the biggest center in this year's class. A former tackle who moved inside because of injury, there are a number of places Konz could play on the line. Current Giants starting left guard David Diehl will be 32 in September. Another possibility is Ole Miss offensive tackle Bobby Massie, though he'd be a big reach.
