Drew Storen Injury: Elbow Sends Nationals Closer To Dr. James Andrews

Drew Storen started the season on the disabled list for the Washington Nationals, and now he’s going for a second opinion on his elbow.

Washington Nationals closer Drew Storen opened the season on the disabled list with inflammation in his right elbow. Somewhat scary. Then he threw off a mound yesterday:

Absolutely scary. Have you ever wondered what Dr. James Andrews' office looks like? I've always pictured it like Sid's room in Toy Story -- just a bunch of arms attached to heads attached to shoulders. Poor Drew Storen.

It’s not always a bad thing to visit Dr. Andrews’ office, though. Sometimes he confirms the initial diagnosis of inflammation. Often times, however, a pitcher goes in for a second opinion, and it takes a year or two for him to get back into a game.

In Storen's place, the Nationals have been alternating Brad Lidge and Henry Rodriguez in the closer's role to start the season.
