ESPN, the media company that refers to itself as “the worldwide leader in sports,” underwent a bit of a scare in their mail offices on Monday morning. The Bristol, Conn., headquarters reportedly received several packages that contained white powder after a similar situation happened in local schools last week.
ESPN Employees Exposed To White Powder At Mailing Facility
ESPN’s mail facility received a scare on Monday morning when three packages containing a white powder were discovered by employees. Everything checked out okay, however, and the mail room is back in operation.

It’s unknown what the powder was at this time, but considering anthrax scares in the past, it makes sense that the facility is taking proper precautions. A local NBC affiliate is reporting that employees that came into contact with the packages are currently being decontaminated while police and fire officials investigate the incident.
Bristol police and fire officials are investigating white powder at ESPN’s mail facility on Monday morning.
Police said white powder was in three packages at the facility, which is located at 545 Middle St. Some employees were exposed to the powder and are being decontaminated.
This comes after some local schools last week received letters with white powder. One of those letters said al-Qaida “is back.”
Luckily it seems as though all is fine on the home front, however, as an ESPN spokesperson just sent along a message reporting that the investigations didn’t uncover anything suspicious.
"All fine here now. Local DEP officials have concluded their tests and have no concerns. Our mail room is back in operation and all employees are fine."
It’s great to hear that everything checked out okay and that no one was effected by the suspicious packages.
