More than a week ago, Rays outfielder Desmond Jennings was removed from a game with a left knee sprain. He was considered day-to-day, and he made a couple pinch-hitting appearances. But he didn't make any starts, because his knee hasn't made the expected progress, and finally on Monday the Rays went ahead and put Jennings on the disabled list.

Jennings has batted .265 on the year with three homers and a 110 OPS+. Matt Joyce and Brandon Guyer have handled left field in his absence so far, with Ben Zobrist in right, which has meant Ben Zobrist hasn't been playing second base, and Will Rhymes has. Man, the Rays are more complicated than most other baseball teams. Desmond Jennings will be out for some while longer. He will be replaced by other players. The Rays will be worse off but not significantly so in his absence. There.
