Rookie Fantasy Football Bracket Match Up: Robert Griffin III Vs Chris Givens
Here we have the number two seed, Robert Griffin III taking on the 31st seed in Rams wide receiver Chris Givens, who was taken in the fourth round.
Why vote for RG3?
If you've seen any of RG3 from the pre-draft process, this should be extremely obvious. He's an explosive play-maker that has great deep ball accuracy, and the speed to run away from sticky situations. He should pick up fantasy yards from both his passing and his running. The Redskins have invested this off-season in a couple of guys who can get yards after the catch and make bug plays, Pierre Garcon leading that list. He also has tight end Fred Davis to throw, who was one of the few offensive threats the Redskins had last year. Griffin should be very strong off the play-action bootlegs that Mike Shanahan is famous for.

Why vote against RG3?
As I mentioned with Luck, he is a rookie quarterback. They are all prone to interceptions early in their career. Griffin is more susceptible to injury, which is just the nature of being a quarterback with the ability to run like he has. While the Redskins tried to add some weapons for RG3, their likely second and third receivers, Josh Morgan and Leonard Hankerson, both have an injury history. Davis is one puff away from a year-long suspension for a violation of the leagues drug policy, and fellow tight end Chris Cooley has also been troubled with injuries the past few years. It's not beyond the realm of imagination that some of those guys go down and Griffin has very little to work with. The Redskins will also look to run the ball somewhat heavily in order to set the table for the bootleg play-actions, which takes the ball out of RG3's hands.
Why vote for Givens?
The Rams have been desperate to surround Bradford with guys to throw to. Bradford is the kind of quarterback that given protection by his offensive line, can throw receivers open. His rookie year he made the most out of a mediocre group of guys. It looks to be an open competition in training camp for the Rams at receiver, so Givens could win some playing time with good performances throughout camp.
Why vote against Givens?
Wide receivers drafted outside of the top five or ten picks tend to take a couple of years to develop and get up to speed with the NFL level. While Givens could steal some playing time with a good camp, he could equally lose time. The Rams drafted Brian Quick at the top of the second round, add in Danny Amendola, Brandon Gibson, Austin Pettis, Greg Salas and Steve Smith and you have some serious competition for playing time. I wouldn't be surprised if Givens found his way to the bench for a lot of the year, which can only be bad for fantasy owners.
