Video: Former NASCAR broadcaster Bob Jenkins announces his retirement

Former ESPN NASCAR broadcaster Bob Jenkins announced his retirement on during NBC’s Indianapolis 500 coverage Friday. Bob is best known to NASCAR fans for his work with Benny Parsons, and Ned Jarrett during early ESPN NASCAR broadcasts from 1979 to 2000.

Bob left ESPN in 2003 and has been involved in various motorsports broadcasting and news anchoring for many networks including SPEED. In 2009 Bob returned to Indycar as a full-time broadcaster for NBC and will finish out this Indy season before he officially hangs up his microphone.

I personally loved the broadcasting crew of Jenkins, Parsons, and Jarrett and have missed having them as the ‘voice’ of NASCAR during races. I honestly don’t think another broadcast team has come close to the chemistry those three had in the booth.

I wish Bob all the best in his retirement.
