Pablo Sandoval, who had surgery in early May to repair a fractured left hamate bone, was activated from the 15-day disabled list on Saturday, June 9.
Pablo Sandoval Returns From 15-Day DL
Sandoval has been reactivated from the disabled list as of Saturday. Sandoval needed surgery to remove the hamate bone from his left hand on May 4. The injury came nearly a year to the day after needing to have the hamate bone removed from his right hand. Sandoval has recovered from surgery quickly and hit a pair of home runs at Fresno on Friday in his minor league rehab assignment. The Giants will certainly welcome the return of another power hitter, as Sandoval was their hottest bat before landing on the DL.

But while last year’s injury kept him out six weeks, that was mostly because his throwing hand (right) was affected. His problem was with the left hand this year, and Sandoval has remained optimistic that he’d be back closer to four weeks this time around.
