The 5 Hour Energy 200 Preview

Getty Images for NASCAR

The Nationwide Series heads to Dover, Delaware this week for the 5 Hour Energy 200. The Monster Mile will host 43 teams this week, six of them will run drivers not running for the Championship, but only two are Sprint Cup drivers!

Kurt Busch and Joey Logano make up the only Sprint Cup regulars doing double duty this week. The other four are Truck Series stars Parker Kligerman, James Buescher, Ty Dillon, and John Wes Townley. Dillon will be making his first career Nationwide start and will be doing so along side his brother Austin.

43 teams are entered this week so all will make it. Just a few notes:

  • #14- Eric McClure is still out, so we get another chance to see what Jeff Green can do. I don’t know about you, but I’m getting concerned about Eric’s recovery - are we looking at another Ricky Craven situation here?#20- Ryan Truex is still trying to find a full time ride for the Nationwide Series and I really wish that Joe Gibbs would just run him next year for the Championship.
  • #54- If I know my broadcasters, expect to hear a lot of the word Monster this week. If Kurt Busch is running good, don’t be surprised to hear some terrible “Monster car is taming the Monster” jokes.
  • #99- John Wes Townley brings some sponsorship to RAB Racing this week. Kenny Wallace will again be sitting at home wondering why no one wants to sponsor him.

Join us at 130 pm Eastern time as Nascar Ranting and Raving tunes in to ESPN for the live running of the 5 Hour Energy 200 from Dover! Enjoy!
