Man, being a hamstring Wednesday night was dangerous work.

Superstars Matt Kemp and Troy Tulowitzki both suffered hamstring injuries; Kemp's going (back) on the DL and Tulowitzki might be disabled, too.

They weren't the only ones, though; looks like the St. Louis Cardinals lost Skip Schumaker for a while, too. Joe Strauss:

Cardinals outfielder-second baseman Skip Schumaker is scheduled to return to St. Louis this morning in order to undergo a magnetic resonance imaging after suffering a pulled hamstring in Wednesday's 10-7 loss to the Atlanta Braves.

Schumaker felt the leg grab as he retrieved shortstop Jack Wilson's RBI double during a three-run sixth inning. Schumaker got to the ball and fired it to second base but quickly bent over, hands clutching at his legs. Manager Mike Matheny lifted him for a pinch hitter in the top of the seventh inning.

--snip--

However, Wednesday's reality means Schumaker likely becomes the sixth instance this season that the Cardinals have had to place a position player on the DL. Lance Berkman, Matt Carpenter, Craig and Jon Jay currently reside there...

The good news is that if/when Schumaker goes on the Disabled List, Allen Craig's probably going to come off it. The bad news is that Craig's really nobody's idea of a center fielder, which is where Schumaker's been stationed recently. Which probably means a lot more of 27-year-old rookie Shane Robinson patrolling the middle pasture.
