It’s raining injuries this baseball season -- doesn’t it seem that way?
Nick Markakis Will Have Hamate Surgery, Out 3-4 Weeks
The latest player to go on the shelf is the usually durable Baltimore outfielder.

The Orioles' Nick Markakis is being added to the list. Here's what happened to the usually durable Baltimore outfielder:
He tweaked the wrist in his final at-bat of Tuesday's 8-6 loss to the Blue Jays.
"[It happened on a] swing, I don't know anything else," Markakis said. "I just swung, and it didn't feel good. It's not like I took an awkward swing or anything. I just swung and it didn't feel right."
Markakis will travel with the Orioles to St. Petersburg, where they will start a three-game set against the Rays on Friday, and have some tests performed on the wrist. He will undergo an MRI on Thursday morning and see a doctor in the afternoon.
Markakis didn’t play Wednesday, the first game he’d missed this year. The article says he had originally hurt the wrist on a slide several days ago, but played through it. The tests Thursday didn’t come back with good news:
Markakis broke hammate bone. Surgery tomorrow morning. Not season ending. 3-4 weeks is an estimate

“Tomorrow” refers to Friday; that would put Markakis out for the month of June. So it goes.
