Open Race Thread: ARCA Series International Motorsports Hall of Fame 250 | Talladega Superspeedway

After two short track races at Mobile and Salem, the ARCA Racing Series resumes superspeedway racing today in the International Motorsports Hall of Fame 250 at Talladega Superspeedway.
Alex Bowman won last week at Salem and was the fastest car in final practice at Talladega. He set a quick time of 51.391 at 186.336 mph. Will Kimmel, Chris Buescher, Brett Hudson and Bobby Gerhart were the rest of the happy hour fast five.
Gerhart is the most popular choice amongst those in the garage - as he should be. Gerhart is coming off his eighth win at Daytona International Speedway and has two wins at Talladega as well. A third could be just 250 miles away.
Gerhart starts today’s race in 24th.
Frank Kimmel is a nine-time Series champion and the 2006 winner of this event. He will start third due to qualifying getting rained out and feels he has a great chance at the checkered flag. He’s currently mired in a 66-race winless streak and has been so close, so many times to start the 2012 season. Is today the day the streak ends?
“We wanted that streak to end 65 races ago,” Kimmel quipped. “We have had a great car at every race this year and we got a good finish at Salem -- had a chance to win and that’s all you can ask for. If we keep bringing fast race cars to the track, we’re eventually going to get that win.”
The starting lineup was set by the rulebook, placing Matt Lofton and Chris Buescher on the front row. Kimmel starts third while points leader Brennan Poole rolls off in fourth.
The International Motorsports Hall of Fame is scheduled to start at 5:00 p.m. EST at Talladega Superspeedway. The Speed Network will begin television coverage at 5 p.m.
The complete starting lineup can be found after the jump. See you in the comments section!
