What can you do with 5 stud Tight Ends?

That is one question I would like to ask Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots coaching staff. Today the New England Patriots claimed Jake Ballard the former Super Bowl winning Tight End of the New York Giants. Ballard will likely start the season on the PUP list, after having ACL reconstruction and micro fracture surgery earlier this year. The tight ends from the Patriots are something special; but could we see a 5 Tight End Set?

We already know that Bill B, is a very good coach, and we already know that the Patriots like to throw the ball, but could we see a 5 tight end set on the field at the same time? The Patriots actually have the personnel to run a 5 tight end set and it could be a dangerous set. Think of what the Patriots did last year with Aaron Hernandez and Rob Gronkowski who were both drafted in the 2010 draft, but now imagine these guys added in with Bo Scaife, Daniel Fells and recently added Jake Ballard.

The Patriots have been constantly adding talented players around Tom Brady, and maybe they are doing it to boost up their blocking, but maybe they are doing it to offset the Buffalo Bills acquisitions on defense since they know they will have to chip players like Mario Williams off the edge. With 6 Tight Ends on the Patriots current roster, they could be in a great place to really put something nice together on the Offensive side of the ball, especially to run the ball, and get some quick screens off.

When you look at the Patriots Offense if you can imagine this line up, Brady with his line in front of him with Daniel Fells lined up at the Running Back Position. Off the Right side, you have a Bo Scaife lined up next to the Tackle, with Herandez out Wide. On the Left side you have a healthy Jake Ballard lined up off the Tackle and Rob Gronkowski line up out Wide. That would be a pretty serious line up. You could do so much but it could open up some pretty crazy match-ups. It would be a big set, but even if they were to utilize just 4 with Ballard Healthy you could add a healthy and hungry Joseph Addai. Addai running behind that group of Tight Ends could have a huge year.

I just thought about it, I know it might not happen, but could you imagine how creative you could get with 5 very good tight ends on your team?

What is next? Are the Patriots going to sign recently released Daniel Graham from the Titans?
