Boston Red Sox right fielder Ryan Sweeney spent some time on the new concussion disabled list earlier this season.

Now, he’s headed back there, but for a different reason. Nick Cafardo:

The Red Sox are about to get an infusion of energy with outfielder Ryan Kalish expected to be at Wrigley Field tonight, according to a major league source.

Outfielder Ryan Sweeney, who has had a toe issue, will go on the 15-day disabled list.

The 24-year-old Kalish, who was activated off the major league disabled list and optioned to Triple A Pawtucket on June 9. He would have had to spend at least 10 days with Pawtucket before being recalled, but can come up now with a player going on the disabled list.

Kalish played in 53 games for the Red Sox in 2010, but not at all in the major leagues in 2011. This season at Triple-A, he was hitting .378/.477/.757, which sounds great, but it was in just 37 at-bats, so take that for what it’s worth. Whether that will give Boston an “infusion of energy” remains to be seen.
