Video: Kurt Busch verbally antagonizes reporter after Saturday’s Nationwide Series Race
The unfortunate story that’s become Kurt Busch’s career was highlighted by yet another post-race meltdown on Saturday afternoon, following the Nationwide Series race at Dover.
The victim this time was Sporting News reporter Bob Pockrass, who followed-up on a late-race conflict between Busch and Justin Allgaier. The two made contact several times in the closing laps and had a discussion immediately following the race.
First, ESPN caught up with both drivers where Busch was snarky but noticeably muzzled.
The real fireworks began when Pockrass followed-up on the story by asking Busch if his current probationary status affected the way he raced Allgaier. Busch lashed-out by unleashing a vulgar verbal attack on the long-time NASCAR scribe.
The interview was captured by Speedtv.com.
This is similar to the confrontation at Homestead that cost Busch his job at Penske Racing when he antagonized ESPN pit reporter Dr. Jerry Punch. Busch apologized for the incident and agreed to go to counseling before the start of the season, leading to his being picked up by Phoenix Racing in January.
This is becoming a trend and Kurt’s running out of options to rehab his public image. Many NASCAR insiders believe that Busch will find himself unofficially exiled from NASCAR at the end of the season, and that was before today’s incident.
Former teammate Ryan Newman concluded that Busch has a chemical imbalance affecting his emotional response mechanisms. Can Busch be helped, or are we watching the end of his decorated career?
