First Word: Tyler Bray is the real deal. While he has developed a tendency for getting injured early in his collegiate career, Bray is as talented as they come when healthy. He has a smooth release and has the ability to let the ball fly all over the field. Occasionally, Bray gets a bit over-aggressive with his rocket arm, which has gotten him in some trouble. But with arm talent like Bray’s, it’s tough to blame him for trying to fit throws in tight windows. If he can cut down on the mistakes and stay on the field in 2012, Bray has a very real chance of being a top five pick.
Strengths
- Arm talent. Tyler Bray has a live, accurate arm and smooth release. His deep-ball accuracy is particularly impressive.
- Bray has experience playing under center and demonstrates solid footwork in his drop back. This will help in his transition to an NFL offense.
- Bray goes through his progressions well and isn’t afraid to take shots down the field. Does a fine job of keeping his eyes down field.
- Size is a plus for Bray. Standing at 6-feet-6-inches tall, he has an ideal release point. His size also gives him great pocket presence. He stands tall in the pocket and is not phased by the pass rush.
- Bray has experience starting in the SEC, which is always a plus.
Weaknesses
- Bray is very lanky in his frame. He has had injury troubles in the past, and it may be a result of his build. Needs to add some mass this season.
- Makes some questionable decisions with the football. Bray has a lot of faith in his arm and will get way too aggressive on some throws. His tendency to try and force throws has lead to turnovers.
