Troy Tulowitzki Has ‘Hockey/Baseball Pitcher Syndrome’

Troy Tulowitzki of the Rockies had begun a rehab assignment and was hoping to be back in action by this weekend. Instead, he was examined for a possible sports hernia, which could have kept him out for several more weeks.

Now, he’s going to have surgery on something that sounds strange, so let this sequence of tweets from the official Rockies Twitter account explain:

They continued with two further tweets that stated the surgery will be performed Thursday in Philadelphia by Dr. William Meyers. The Rockies ended their tweet sequence by saying they’d update further after the surgery. According to Troy Renck, Tulowitzki’s probably going to miss at least six more weeks.

That’s rough news for both Tulo and the Rockies, who are having an annus horribilis.
