Arizona is on to the College World Series finals after putting up some crooked numbers early on Florida State, eventually eliminating the Seminoles, 10-3.
2012 College World Series: Arizona Eliminates Florida State, 10-3
Arizona scored six runs in the first inning thanks to three Florida State errors, and the Wildcats will advance in the College World Series while the Seminoles’ season is done. The Wildcats single-handedly ended No. 3 FSU’s chances in the double-elimination tournament, handing the Seminoles both of their losses.
Florida State’s freshman starter Brandon Liebrandt faced seven batters but only retired one, giving up six runs, though only two were earned. The hits didn’t stop coming for Arizona -- in addition to the six-run first, the ‘Noles had the benefit of a four-run fourth thanks to Robert Refsnyder and Bobby Brown, who bashed homers only two batters apart. Pitcher Kurt Heyer didn’t need all the help, as the nation’s leader in innings only allowed two runs over 7.1 innings.
