Every pro baseball team has men or women along the foul lines whose responsibility it is to retrieve foul balls to help speed up the game (incrementally). Sometimes these people play catch with the third outfielder between innings. It seems like a pretty sweet gig. Every now and then, one of these lovely people will make a pretty terrific play on a tricky grounder or a line drive. Sometimes it even makes it onto SportsCenter! When a woman working the foul line at a San Diego Padres game makes a terrific play on a screaming liner, however ... well, just watch.
Padres Broadcaster Reacts To Foul Ball Catch In Hilariously Inappropriate Fashion

“Lisa” made this great catch on Wednesday (H/T to Big League Stew) and Padres broadcaster Dick Enberg immediately referred to her as “a catch” and followed up with the wildly inappropriate yet archaic “hubba hubba” to show his approval. Enberg’s broadcast partner Mark Grant then theorizes that, if not for the quick actions of Lisa, a fan might have taken the ball “right in the soup coolers.” This bit of information really hammers home that the San Diego Padres broadcast team may actually be time-displaced newsies.
Take note, aspiring broadcasters: "Hubba hubba" is not an appropriate response to a fine defensive play. Unless that delectable slice of beefcake Dan Uggla is making the grab. Hubba hubba!
